Residents of Mathews and Middlesex counties are invited to attend Community Conservation Day at Williams Wharf Landing, a community event focused on conservation, shoreline resilience and the natural resources that define the Middle Peninsula.

Hosted by York River Steward and partner organizations, the event will bring together local conservation professionals and community members to share information about land and water stewardship, outdoor recreation opportunities and programs available to property owners across the region.

Location: Williams Wharf Landing, 1039 Williams Wharf Rd, Mathews, VA

Take Home a Free Native Tree

Participants will have the opportunity to take home a free native tree while supplies last. Species include White Oak, Black Gum, River Birch and Serviceberry. Native trees support shoreline resilience, improve water quality, reduce runoff and provide important wildlife habitat. Advance registration for trees is encouraged.

The Middle Peninsula is one of Virginia’s most water-connected regions. With rising flood risks, shoreline erosion and changes to local ecosystems, conservation and nature-based solutions are critical. Community Conservation Day provides residents with access to information, programs, and practices that support long-term resilience, including:
